Orange County Community Colleges consists of four districts, nine colleges, and one continuing education center. By combining resources, the group has done what once seemed impossible—made research and data-informed decisions to market to potential students, improve student services, and target underrepresented groups in outreach campaigns. The Future BUILT campaign is more than a marketing campaign—it is data-based and research-informed, drawing on custom research, including the hiring of secret shoppers to gauge customer service, surveying nearly 7,000 students on how we should market and retain them, interviews with 400+ community members about their opinion of the colleges, and focus groups with local business leaders. In this presentation, the team walks through the key findings, reveals what the research uncovered, and talks about actionable changes that came from the data.
