La Crosse, Wis. (Jan. 2020)—Interact Communications, a full-service marketing and communications agency dedicated to the two-year technical and community college market, announces the appointment of Mary DeLuca as vice president, establishing its new East Coast office. DeLuca, a resident of Columbia, Md., will oversee East Coast business development and campaign management for Wisconsin-based Interact, complementing its West Coast office in Oceanside, California. This move enables Interact, which has worked with more than 400 two-year colleges in the U.S. and Canada, to expand its expertise and service to clients from coast to coast.

DeLuca recently served as senior director of college communications for the Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC), a multi-campus college serving nearly 60,000 students annually. During her 30-year tenure at CCBC, DeLuca developed a nationally respected communications department and successful college brand, while leading the college through its transition from three former colleges into one. She was recognized by the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR), an affiliate of the American Association of Community Colleges, as NCMPR’s District Communicator of the Year (2003). She served as NCMPR’s District 1 director from 2013 to 2016, and also helped CCBC garner more than 100 national and district awards for excellence in marketing and public relations.

DeLuca has a Master of Arts degree in publications design from the University of Baltimore (1995), where she earned the Ampersand Award for exceptional writing and design. She holds a bachelor’s degree in public relations and journalism from James Madison University (1990). She served as president of the Maryland Council for Community College Public Relations Officers (2011-2012), president of the Baltimore Public Relations Council (1998-99), and is a member of the Leadership Baltimore County Class of 2007.
